“Ocean Dreams” – McClure Beach – Point Reyes National Seashore, California – 2010

“Ocean Dreams” was taken just off the shoreline of McClure’s Beach in the Point Reyes National Seashore, just north of San Francisco. It was taken with a Canon 5D Mark II and Canon 24-70 2.8L Lens set up on a tripod. I used a B+W 77mm 9 Stop ND Filter to help slow down my shutter speed, which allowed me to capture the water in this dream like state.

Morning Glory HDR“Morning Glory HDR” – Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

This photo was taken in the beautiful Yellowstone National Park, located in the North Western part of Wyoming last fall. This pool, name “Morning Glory” is a famous spot in the Park, because of it amazing colors as well as the fact that it is slowly dying. Over the years, people have felt the need to toss trash into the pool, which has clogged the natural tubes, effectively reducing the hot water supply. Sadly this amazing natural wonder will no longer be with us at some point in the future.

This photo was taken on a Canon 5D Mark II with a Canon 24-70 2.8L Lens set on a tripod. I blended 3 separate images at different exposures to create this photo.

This photo was taken one beautiful morning during sunrise last Fall. Because the sun was just beginning to rise, I had to blend 2 images together to allow for the light to reach almost all parts of Emerald Bay. This photograph was taken with a Canon 1D Mark III using Canon’s 17-40 4.0L lens. This image can be seen in my “Landscape” section of my Portfolio and purchased HERE in the online store.

El Capitan B&W“El Capitan” – Yosemite National Park 2009

There are a few National Parks in the US that are as iconic as Yosemite. While Yosemite Valley on comprises of avery small portion of the entire park, it is definitely the most visited and photographed. Just after sunrise one morning to I took this photograph with my Canon 5D Mark II and a 24-70 2.8L lens without a tripod. The side light from the rising sun helped to create this beautiful scene. The trees at the bottom allowed me to frame the image accordingly.

Mighty Teton's Panorama B&WMighty Teton Panorama” – Grand Teton National Park – Wyoming

There are only a few mountains in the US that are more iconic or dramatic as Wyoming’s Grand Tetons. Rising up out of the valley floor, these massive peaks stretch up toward the sky. One day last fall after a beautiful sunrise, I captured this panorama using a Canon 5D Mark II with Canon’s 70-200 2.8L lens. Setting up on a tripod with a RRS PCL pano head and a panorama slider, I was able to capture these stunning mountains. I added the B&W color conversion using OnONe Software’s Silver Efex Pro.

Bonsai Rock Sunset Panorama #2“Bonsai Rock Panorama” – Lake Tahoe, Nevada

Just south of Sand Harbor on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe, there is an obscure path that leads down to the shore. Here there is a unique rock that has a bonsai tree growing out of it, making for some amazing photographic opportunities. Shot with a Canon 5D Mark II and a 24-70 2.8L Lens on a tripod, I was able to stitch together this panorama from 5 separate photos. I hope you enjoy this Photo of the Day!
