Haitian Artist Sketches Free Hand Designs

“Exuleun” – Port au Prince, Haiti – 2011

On my last trip to Haiti, I dedicated some of my time and energy into documenting many of the amazing artisans that are spread throughout Port au Prince. This photo is of Exuleun Exuma who is working through an apprenticeship with the famous Serge Jolimeu, who is actually a featured artist in a gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico next month. Serge is a metal work artist and he runs a large organization just outside of Port au Prince. Exuleun is one of a small number of talented up and coming artists that has the ability to sketch free hand designs that will ultimately become beautiful and unique metal work that is showcased through Haiti.

“Million Leg March” from Mindo, Ecuador

“Million Leg March” was taken in the cloud forests just outside of Mindo, Ecuador. Cloud Forests are known for their bio diversity, where unlike rain forest, it doesn’t rain very often. The clouds still hold moisture in the air, but not enough to be classified as a Rain Forest. If you ever get the chance, Ecuador is one of the most amazing counties on this planet.

It seems that google has thought of everything these days. Over the holidays, I got a SPOT GPS device (www.findmespot.com) that allows me to check in with people back home when I am off exploring other “dangerous” countries out there in the world. Along with sending “I’m OK”, “HELP” and “9/11″ messages, it sends a tracking signal that is picked up by a live Google Maps feed. So from now on, no matter where I am in the world (with a few exceptions), you will have the ability to trace my location when I am out in the field.

This comes perfectly in time for Sarah and My trip to Guatemala and Honduras, which we depart from on Sunday. We will be gone for 40 days, documenting some of the most beautiful people, markets and locations in Central America.

From today on, you can easily find out where I am by clicking on my “location” that is located at the top of every page on my website.

From there you will find an easily accessible LIVE google map of my current location as well as tracking coordinates to see where I have been and the direction I am going in.

Timelapse Photography Proof of Global Warming

I came across this video a few weeks ago and could not get it’s message out of my mind. There is no longer any debate about the existence of Global Warming. Whether is it purely man-made or a mixture of a natural cycle along with the human spices inability to find balance within its habitat is a mute point now. Regardless it is here and we have to do something about it. Please share this video with everyone you know. Our time of indifference has passed and unless we do something about it, our planets weather systems are only going to grow stronger and more violent.

Fleeting Fall Colors

Looking outside this morning to a beautiful Colorado day, it is apparent that Fall has come and gone. The yellow, oranges and reds are few and far between and the once dense foliage has been substituted for barren trees and a brisk cold air. As I look forward to a wonderful Colorado Winter, I can’t help but appreciate the Fall we had in the Rockies, even if it was incredibly short this year. This is a collection of some of my favorite fall photography shots from the past two years. From Colorado to Wyoming to California…there is a little bit of everything. I hope you enjoy!
