Who is up for some travel? My 2012 Workshop schedule is nearing completion with workshops in Death Valley, Bolivia (w/ +Scott Jarvie) , Nicaragua (The Giving Lens), Israel/Palestine (The Giving Lens), Cambodia (w/ +Elia Locardi) , Iceland (w/ +Patrick Di Fruscia) , Mongolia and Colorado (Sunflower in August and Fall Colors at the start of October). I am possibly adding in an Alaska and Guillin, China workshop as well.

Soon I will offer 3 new online webinar workshops to (LR Basics, Advanced Editing and the Business of Photography). I have a simple sign up on the link below to be notified of any new information for upcoming workshops if you are interested.

MONGOLIA IT IS

I did a post earlier that asked if I should explore Guillin, China or Mongolia and it seems that Mongolia won fairly handily. I still really want to document Guillin, but Mongolia might be added to the list for 2012.

So far the travel schedule is:

Death Valley, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Israel/Palestine, Cambodia, Iceland, Alaska and now Mongolia. Most are workshops I am teaching, which I should add 5-8 small workshops in Colorado as well, for Fall Colors and Sunflowers and Spring time in RMNP.

2012 will be a good year…

BEHIND THE LENS: Live GPS Tracking

Want to follow along on my adventures around the world? Not a problem. If you go to my website (www.colbybrownphotography.com) and click on the yellow link at the very top of your screen that says "I am currently in…" you will be taken to a screen that displays my location, via live GPS tracking, when I am out shooting on assignment or teaching a workshop. It works all over the globe, more accurately in some countries rather then others.

I am heading out to shoot in the Colorado Rockies for the next 6 days, starting this morning. This will be the best way to follow along

Route 11 in Southern Patagonia

Just outside of El Calafate, Argentina is the heavily traveled Route 11 highway. This road connects El Calafate with the infamous Perito Moreno Glaciar that is located just 80k outside of the city. As the hub for visitors entering Argentina’s Patagonia, El Calafate usually offers most travelers their first glimpses of the dramatic Patagonian Mountains. As you drive down Route 11, it is amazing to see these dramatic peaks increase in size and beauty.

Gone to Guatemala and Honduras

I am leaving for the airport to head off to Guatemala and Honduras for the next 38 days. Keep Close to Nature’s Heart….

John Muir once said, ““Keep close to Nature’s heart…and break clear away, once in awhile, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean.” I think it is easy for most of us to lose that sense of connection with the “wildness” that John Muir so passionately talked about. Life is a complicated and dynamic, always changing and moving in a direction, but sometimes you have to force yourself to stop what you are doing and truly embrace all things nature.

I was born in Berkeley, California in 1982 and although I grew up on the California coast, my truest sense of home has always been in the mountains. Whether it was the Sierra Nevada’s, the Cascades or the Rockies…I have always been able to find my peace with the world when hiking through these granite temples. A lot of people think that my life is hectic, with all the traveling….all the packing…all the jet lag. But what most people don’t realize is that these trips are meditative to me. Today I leave for a 12 day exploration into Yosemite National Park to walk in the shoes of John Muir…to wash my spirit clean…
