Thursday, May 27th, 2010

©Backpacker Magazine – June 2010

With spring finally reaching Colorado and the surrounding western states, it is time to start planning out shooting locations. I leave for Haiti next Wednesday (More Info), but I return a week later and I am really looking forward to a great Summer and Fall of shooting. My first location of the season will be the Snowy Mountain Range in southern Wyoming, just west of Laramie. If you have any locations that you would love to see some photography work from, just shoot me an email HERE
with “Photography Requests” in the subject line.

Photo of the Day: “Mighty Tetons Panorama”

Mighty Teton's Panorama B&WMighty Teton Panorama” – Grand Teton National Park – Wyoming

There are only a few mountains in the US that are more iconic or dramatic as Wyoming’s Grand Tetons. Rising up out of the valley floor, these massive peaks stretch up toward the sky. One day last fall after a beautiful sunrise, I captured this panorama using a Canon 5D Mark II with Canon’s 70-200 2.8L lens. Setting up on a tripod with a RRS PCL pano head and a panorama slider, I was able to capture these stunning mountains. I added the B&W color conversion using OnONe Software’s Silver Efex Pro.

Fleeting Fall Colors

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

Looking outside this morning to a beautiful Colorado day, it is apparent that Fall has come and gone. The yellow, oranges and reds are few and far between and the once dense foliage has been substituted for barren trees and a brisk cold air. As I look forward to a wonderful Colorado Winter, I can’t help but appreciate the Fall we had in the Rockies, even if it was incredibly short this year. This is a collection of some of my favorite fall photography shots from the past two years. From Colorado to Wyoming to California…there is a little bit of everything. I hope you enjoy!

The Always Dramatic Grand Teton National Park……

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

Located in the North Western portion of Wyoming, just South of Yellowstone, Grand Teton National Park is an area that defies what we think we know about beauty. Known as one of the most dramatic mountain ranges in the lower 48, Grand Teton National Park is a high altitude wonderland. While the valley sits at an altitude of roughly 6,800 ft, the Teton Mountain Range jettisons out of the valley to 13,770 ft (The Grand Teton itself), creating a staggering 7,000 ft difference that is sure to take your breath away. The Snake River, made famous by Ansel Adams, cuts through the valley, making the Grand Teton National Park one of the most photographed mountain scenes in the United States. I hope you enjoy seeing the park through my eyes!

A Very Artistic Look at Yellowstone National Park…

Friday, September 25th, 2009

Yellowstone National Park is a very unique jewel located in the North West corner of Wyoming. Established in 1872, Yellowstone was America’s first official National Park and is currently the most visited park in the US, with an average of more than 3 million visitors each year. Although the park occupies 3,470 square miles, it is easy to feel over crowded when driving through the park or camping at any of the popular camp sites. It is for this reason that I always try to avoid visiting in the summer months, the parks busiest time. This is my second trip to the park in the fall and I absolutely love it.

Going through the park a second time and visiting some of my favorite places, I had the creative freedom to look at the park in a very different way. I hope you enjoy a very artistic look at the always beautiful Yellowstone National Park….

Wyoming’s Amazing Wind River Range

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

Finally, here is some of my photography work from the Wind River Range in Wyoming.  Hiking into the Winds from Pinedale, via the Elk Hart Trailhead, Sarah and I hiked more then 12 miles into the backcountry to get to Titcomb Basin, easily one of my top 5 favorite places in the lower 48 to shoot photography. If you ever get a chance to reach this desolate wonderland, you won’t be disappointed. Please contact me for any information regarding these images or if you just want advice on how to find places like this….

Wyoming’s Wind River Mountain Range…

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

Here is a small collection of photography from a recent trip to Wyoming’s Wind River Mountain Range. Although the trip was cut short due to a friend getting altitude sickness, we were still able to get a glimpse of the beauty that surrounds this amazing part of Wyoming.
