A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of poison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our Task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”

~Albert Einstein

In this crazy and fast paced world we live in, we sometimes lose focus of the importance of reaching out to others in need. Having a compassionate heart, lending a hand or even a dollar can make a world of difference. With time, support and effort we can feed the hungry, shelter the homeless and educate those less fortunate than ourselves.

In 2010, Colby  helped found Lespwa Haiti, an organization that's aim is to help bring back the focus on the continued struggle, hope and perseverance of the Haiti People. By working closing with multiple small NGOs on the ground in Haiti, the project has been able to document the amazing stories and unique individuals that are fighting for a better tomorrow. In 2011, Colby founded The Giving Lens, an organization that attempts to blend photo education and giving back to local communities through sustainable development projects. TGL offers photography workshops in various countries around the world that allow you to not only futher your photography skills, but make a differince in the lives of those you work with along the way.
