About Me

Colby is a photographer, photo educator and author based out of Eastern Pennsylvania. Specializing in landscape, travel and wildlife photography, his body of work spans the four corners of the globe and covers all 7 continents. He has been a Sony Ambassador and Sony Artisan since 2015.

He is also the founder of the humanitarian photo organization The Giving Lens, which blends the art form of photography with the focus and purpose of giving back to those in need around the world.

  • There is nothing quite like seeing the Grand Prismatic Spring in Yellowstone from the air. Since drones are illegal in National Parks, I had to rent a sightseeing plane from Jackson Hole and have it fly high above the park. The views were definitely worth it in the end!   • Are Dinosaurs still alive? Sometime when I am shooting macro wildlife photography, I get the sense that they are still walking among us! There is something truly special about macro wildlife photography! This is a Green Anole (Dactyoa Frenata) that I photographed in Costa Rica. The detail, color, and sharpness are simply mind-blowing.   • For the past two weeks, I have been using the new Sony400-800mm f/6.3-8 G OSS to photograph wildlife in Spain. The 400-800 is Sony’s longest lens ever, reaching an incredible 800mm! As a wildlife photographer, I find this specialty focal range perfect for photographing various species from a distance, making it ideal for sports and aerial photographers as well.  I was blown away by this lens's crisp sharpness, fast AF, internal zooming, and compression, especially at that ultra-telephoto end of 800mm. While my main focus was in finding and photographing the famous Iberian Lynx, I was able to take advantage of using the impressive 400-800 range to capture plenty of images and slow motion videos of a variety of bird species in the region.
