Discover The Big Island of Hawaii

Come join me as we explore one of the most incredible pacific Islands in the World, The Big Island of Hawaii. Known as the most diverse and ever changing Island in Hawaii, The Big Island is home to incredible seascapes, arid desert landscapes, black sand beaches, towering waterfalls, vibrant wildlife and if we are lucky, active lava flow.

This 6 night/7 day adventure will be based out of the coastal city of Kona on the West side of The Big Island. From our base there, we will head out each day to explore new and different sides of The Big Island, always ended up back on the West Coast of the island for it’s incredible sunsets each evening.

Lava Flow Big Island of Hawaii Photo Workshop
Hawaii Gold Dust Gecko Photo Workshop Big Island

Our Photo Adventure on The Big Island begins on January 25th and ends on the 31st. You will fly in and out of the Kona International Airport (KOA). Each day we will adjust our itinerary based on the weather, giving our group the freedom to get you to the right places at the right time with the right kind of light. Because of the diversity found on The Big Island, there will be a wide variety of photographic opportunities. From capturing incredible sunsets on the west coast of the island to photographing Hawaii’s famous Green Sea Turtles and Gold Dust Geckos that line the bushes near our hotel to the endless seascapes that line the island.

Additionally, we will work hard to get you the best opportunities to photograph lava, one of the most incredible natural events in the world. While we can’t control how much lava will be flowing or where we would could safely access it by the time of this workshop, we will do our best to get you in the best possible spots!

Fantastic Trip

Not sure what I was looking for other than an adventure and some photography time when I signed up, I was surprised with the amount of knowledge I took away from this trip. Learning what to look for, how to delve deeper into your compositions and better post processing tips have all truly changed my photography for the better.

Lofoten Islands, Norway Fenruary 2016

I had the pleasure of going with Colby to the Lofoten Islands, Norway in February 2016. I greatly benefited from Colby’s extensive knowledge and his willingness to answer any photography question from mechanics to style and the realities of the business. Lofoten’s geography, coupled with the change-up weather, offered just about every opportunity one could think of for landscape photography and learning in different situations. I thoroughly enjoyed the unstructured “chase the light” nature of… Read more “Lofoten Islands, Norway Fenruary 2016”

Worth the cold

I have been on 3 of Colby’s workshops and some of my best photos are from the Lofoten Islands. Enduring freezing weather and extreme winds was totally worth it. We only got one night of the aurora but it was glorious. Norway is a much different landscape than my home state of Texas and I greatly enjoyed this and the snow.
