Amazing Pantanal Experience
This was our 2nd workshop with Colby and honestly the bar from the 1st trip was set quite high. However this trip didn’t disappoint. From the moment that we got together with Colby and the other participants, the fun never stopped. Words cannot describe the feeling when seeing these amazing jaguars for the first time … whether walking along the riverbanks, emerging from the brush, perched up in the tree, and especially when they hunted the caiman. Wow! So much wildlife encountered … obviously the jaguar, but also the caiman, giant river otters, capybara (adults and babies), and even a water buffalo. What I didn’t expect was the bird life too. Birds were great to fill in any down time waiting for the jaguars to emerge. Rafael, the local guide / biologist, was always helpful in educating us about the conservation efforts, behavioral aspects, etc of the wildlife and birds in the area. Colby was fantastic in getting us in the right area, right angles, right light. … and helping us out with settings, processing, and whatever else we needed. If experiencing the thrill of witnessing the jaguar hunting its prey (up close), then this is the trip for you!
