Welcome to
Colby Brown Photography
I became a photographer back in 2006, rapidly rising in the ranks of the photo industry. I created my company, Colby Brown Photography, to offer my services to the public and corporations. I spent countless hours studying the latest photography techniques, exploring camera technology and photo editing. This learning curve opened my eyes to the world of photography education by exploring the world and using these techniques in the field.
I was leading photography workshops for National Geographic in South America, further spurring my love for both travel and photo education. Over the years, I have developed photography workshops that take you to wondrous locations around the globe while teaching the different disciplines of photography. Each workshop is carefully planned to offer the best scenic locations to create memorable adventure while allowing me to share my knowledge and experience.
Today, I am a professional photographer, photo educator and author living in Eastern Pennsylvania with my family. The meticulously researched photography workshops I created, specialize in landscape, travel and wildlife photography, I am fortunate to work all over the globe, across all 7 continents, documenting various cultures, environments and species in pursuit of capturing life on this planet. Following my heart and my passions, I dedicate a lot of my time to working with small NGOs, charities and initiative programs while on the road. If you have been looking for a way to give back, check out my NGO, The Giving Lens. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out and contact me. Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy!
Each year I run photography workshop adventures around the globe in some of the most incredible locations on the planet such as Patagonia, Iceland, Norway, Cuba, Africa and much more…
Throughout my career I have created a number of tutorials, video courses & e-books that cover everything from social media and business to post-processing (Adobe, Capture One & On1 Photo RAW). You can find these in the Photography Education section of this website.

What a great experience! Our cabins were situated along the rocky shoreline and we could easily reach many locations for photographing Northern Lights and wild beaches.
Traveling with people having similar interests is fun and helpful. We spent two nights photographing the incredible Aurora.
Pedro and Stan both have helped me on technical sides of Northern Lights photography. Also have assisted me on(…)
camera settings for regular and slow motion video photography.Photographing Northern Lights within the Arctic Circle, Lofoten Islands was one of my dreams. Now I have done it… thanks to Colby Brown Photography Workshop!
Many “Thank Yous!” to Pedro and Stan for everything!!!

My first workshop with Colby and his team and also my first workshop dedicated to wildlife photography. Colby’s enthusiasm and energy for leading workshops was readily apparent from the start. Colby has spent a lot of time in Costa Rica and is very knowledgeable with the local environment and wildlife specifies. By the end of the workshop, I learned the basics of both macro flash photography and(…)
strategies to increase hit rates with fast moving subjects like BIF and hummingbirds. As expected Colby is very helpful with gear questions/set up for anything Sony, but was also helpful in assisting clients using non-Sony gear. We had plenty of photo opportunities during our week, usually starting early in the morning and frequent evening/night shoots as well. I also found Colby very responsive to pre-trip planning questions. As an added bonus, the entire group was a lot of fun (several of the participants had previously met on a previous Colby Brown workshop). I look forward to doing another workshop with Colby!
This workshop with Colby was like watching National Geographic unfold in real-time — only better, because we had front row seats and amazing guides making sure we didn’t become part of the food chain.
But the real secret sauce? The people. Our group of photographers was like a bear-loving, adventure-chasing comedy troupe. Every day was full of laughter, inside jokes, and enough shared snacks to survive a(…)
mild apocalypse. And the family and crew who ran the camp? Absolute legends. They made us feel welcome, safe, and totally spoiled in the middle of the Alaskan wilderness — which is not an easy feat when you’re surrounded by creatures that could you make you their next energy bar. This workshop gave me unforgettable moments and great memories. I came for the wildlife and the epic scenery… but I left with a full heart, sore abs from hiking and laughing, and a new adventure family. There’s also a boot hole named after me in the mud somewhere on mile two, but that’s a story for another day. Bring some Dramamine, Aspercreme, a walking stick , a raincoat and room for great food as Chef Callum fed us crazy great meals like we were going into our own hibernation.
Cheers
