Welcome to
Colby Brown Photography
I became a photographer back in 2006, rapidly rising in the ranks of the photo industry. I created my company, Colby Brown Photography, to offer my services to the public and corporations. I spent countless hours studying the latest photography techniques, exploring camera technology and photo editing. This learning curve opened my eyes to the world of photography education by exploring the world and using these techniques in the field.
I was leading photography workshops for National Geographic in South America, further spurring my love for both travel and photo education. Over the years, I have developed photography workshops that take you to wondrous locations around the globe while teaching the different disciplines of photography. Each workshop is carefully planned to offer the best scenic locations to create memorable adventure while allowing me to share my knowledge and experience.
Today, I am a professional photographer, photo educator and author living in Eastern Pennsylvania with my family. The meticulously researched photography workshops I created, specialize in landscape, travel and wildlife photography, I am fortunate to work all over the globe, across all 7 continents, documenting various cultures, environments and species in pursuit of capturing life on this planet. Following my heart and my passions, I dedicate a lot of my time to working with small NGOs, charities and initiative programs while on the road. If you have been looking for a way to give back, check out my NGO, The Giving Lens. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out and contact me. Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy!
Each year I run photography workshop adventures around the globe in some of the most incredible locations on the planet such as Patagonia, Iceland, Norway, Cuba, Africa and much more…
Throughout my career I have created a number of tutorials, video courses & e-books that cover everything from social media and business to post-processing (Adobe, Capture One & On1 Photo RAW). You can find these in the Photography Education section of this website.

Client Testimonials

I really enjoyed Colby’s workshop. I learnt a lot about photography and also a lot about the business side of photography (which I found really useful). Be it website advice, social media advice, equipment advice Colby was always happy to help. There were all different skill levels on our tour and Colby adapted seamlessly to each participant. While we were there, Iceland had been hit by a lot of snow meaning(…)
the Ice Caves were impossible to reach unless you had a 30ft monster truck. Some people might have just apologised and said it’s the weather they’re unreachable. Colby found a tour company with a 30ft monster truck, managed to get us to the caves and they let us stay behind for an additional time after the other people had left. As he said: “I promised I’d get you to the Ice Caves, a promise is a promise”. It was a fun, knowledge experience and I made great friends with everyone on the tour.
I have enjoyed every workshop with Colby. I always come back with incredible photos.
Kenya was my 3rd Colby workshop (Namibia, Costa Rica, and Kenya). I always enjoy the tremendous number of photography opportunities we get on each workshop. In Kenya, we were able to shoot so many different animals in a ton of locations. Just make sure to bring tons of SD cards 🙂
Colby is such a kind, wonderful(…)
person with a tremendous wealth of experience. I could not think of a better person to go with. So, I highly recommend Colby’s workshops. I am already planning the next one.

The Salar de Uyuni, the largest salt flat in the world, is breathtaking. Just standing in the middle of its 2,496,000 acres, with the vast expanse of Andean Dark Sky and millions of stars suspended over you, is well worth the price of admission. But of course, this is a Colby Brown workshop so there is so much more! Based on Colby’s extensive travel in South America, you are skillfully guided to some of the(…)
more remote and untraveled areas in South America — places where few Nortemaricanos go. You get authoritative training to do things like Astro panoramas or stacking high-resolution shots of the galactic core, and other tricks of the trade. There is a night in a remote Andean lodge at 15,000 ft near the famous Lago Colorado and its flamingos. There is time to explore La Paz, Bolivia, where I had one of the best meals of my life. But perhaps the best thing about Colby Brown workshops is the amazing and interesting people they attract. In each workshop, I get new lifelong friends. Bolivia was no exception!
