Welcome to
Colby Brown Photography
I became a photographer back in 2006, rapidly rising in the ranks of the photo industry. I created my company, Colby Brown Photography, to offer my services to the public and corporations. I spent countless hours studying the latest photography techniques, exploring camera technology and photo editing. This learning curve opened my eyes to the world of photography education by exploring the world and using these techniques in the field.
I was leading photography workshops for National Geographic in South America, further spurring my love for both travel and photo education. Over the years, I have developed photography workshops that take you to wondrous locations around the globe while teaching the different disciplines of photography. Each workshop is carefully planned to offer the best scenic locations to create memorable adventure while allowing me to share my knowledge and experience.
Today, I am a professional photographer, photo educator and author living in Eastern Pennsylvania with my family. The meticulously researched photography workshops I created, specialize in landscape, travel and wildlife photography, I am fortunate to work all over the globe, across all 7 continents, documenting various cultures, environments and species in pursuit of capturing life on this planet. Following my heart and my passions, I dedicate a lot of my time to working with small NGOs, charities and initiative programs while on the road. If you have been looking for a way to give back, check out my NGO, The Giving Lens. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out and contact me. Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy!
Each year I run photography workshop adventures around the globe in some of the most incredible locations on the planet such as Patagonia, Iceland, Norway, Cuba, Africa and much more…
Throughout my career I have created a number of tutorials, video courses & e-books that cover everything from social media and business to post-processing (Adobe, Capture One & On1 Photo RAW). You can find these in the Photography Education section of this website.

This was our 2nd workshop with Colby and honestly the bar from the 1st trip was set quite high. However this trip didn’t disappoint. From the moment that we got together with Colby and the other participants, the fun never stopped. Words cannot describe the feeling when seeing these amazing jaguars for the first time … whether walking along the riverbanks, emerging from the brush, perched up in the tree, and(…)
especially when they hunted the caiman. Wow! So much wildlife encountered … obviously the jaguar, but also the caiman, giant river otters, capybara (adults and babies), and even a water buffalo. What I didn’t expect was the bird life too. Birds were great to fill in any down time waiting for the jaguars to emerge. Rafael, the local guide / biologist, was always helpful in educating us about the conservation efforts, behavioral aspects, etc of the wildlife and birds in the area. Colby was fantastic in getting us in the right area, right angles, right light. … and helping us out with settings, processing, and whatever else we needed. If experiencing the thrill of witnessing the jaguar hunting its prey (up close), then this is the trip for you!
Let’s face it, most of us who come on workshops like this are very unlikely to give up our day jobs and persue a career in photography. But we all love the craft and we all want to improve. Coming on this tour, I walked away a better photographer than I was coming into it and, for just a few days, enjoyed the experience of feeling a bit like a professional photographer. I don’t think there was much more I(…)
could have hoped for from this workshop.Colby is an inspiration and a real people person. He is great with helping people to move forward in their craft, whatever their level, but not by hand-holding or doing it for you. His method is better because he helps you learn it for yourself and that stays with you.
The workshop is very thoughtfully put together, and even when we didn’t have the best weather Colby ensured we put the time to good use by hosting editing sessions. We were never bored and the camaraderie of the group was strong.
The greatest compliment that I can give Colby for his workshop experience, is that I can’t wait to have the privilege to do one again. I confess, for two nights after my return, I just dreamt of the northern lights and ice caves. I also walked away with new friends with a similar level of passion for photography. If you love photography, don’t even hesitate, make the most of the chance to have the Colby Brown experience and sign up! Now!

Mongolia is an absolutely amazing place, a world of endless vistas, interesting people, fascinating cultures and endless photographic opportunities. At every turn, Colby exceeded expectations. Our accommodations, transportation, meals, and especially the in-country support staff and models he hired were all superb. Taking it to a whole other level, Colby noted the particular wishes of those of us on this(…)
trip to have musical experiences, home-cooked meals and to see ancient pictographs carved in rock and he surprised us with opportunities that weren’t on the official agenda. In short, though Colby was well organized and prepared. He was flexible and responsive to the needs of the group. As a result we all had a fabulous time.So I not only recommend Mongolia, I recommend Colby wherever he may lead a tour. This is my fifth time out with him and he keeps getting better.
