Welcome to
Colby Brown Photography
I became a photographer back in 2006, rapidly rising in the ranks of the photo industry. I created my company, Colby Brown Photography, to offer my services to the public and corporations. I spent countless hours studying the latest photography techniques, exploring camera technology and photo editing. This learning curve opened my eyes to the world of photography education by exploring the world and using these techniques in the field.
I was leading photography workshops for National Geographic in South America, further spurring my love for both travel and photo education. Over the years, I have developed photography workshops that take you to wondrous locations around the globe while teaching the different disciplines of photography. Each workshop is carefully planned to offer the best scenic locations to create memorable adventure while allowing me to share my knowledge and experience.
Today, I am a professional photographer, photo educator and author living in Eastern Pennsylvania with my family. The meticulously researched photography workshops I created, specialize in landscape, travel and wildlife photography, I am fortunate to work all over the globe, across all 7 continents, documenting various cultures, environments and species in pursuit of capturing life on this planet. Following my heart and my passions, I dedicate a lot of my time to working with small NGOs, charities and initiative programs while on the road. If you have been looking for a way to give back, check out my NGO, The Giving Lens. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out and contact me. Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy!
Each year I run photography workshop adventures around the globe in some of the most incredible locations on the planet such as Patagonia, Iceland, Norway, Cuba, Africa and much more…
Throughout my career I have created a number of tutorials, video courses & e-books that cover everything from social media and business to post-processing (Adobe, Capture One & On1 Photo RAW). You can find these in the Photography Education section of this website.

I have gone on a number of workshops with Colby and never been disappointed. This recent trip to the Pantanal for jaguars was no exception. My anticipation was quickly rewarded the moment I laid eyes on that first jaguar walking along the river bank. As with other CB wildlife workshops, the proximity we were to the jaguars was an absolute thrill!! My first thought was “Nope, I’m definitely not at the zoo!”(…)
That said, Colby, Fernando and the drivers made sure we were always safe and taking no risks. In addition to shooting the jaguars and their cute cubs, we also captured ocelots, caiman, otters and a variety of monkeys and birds. Each day was divided into morning and afternoon sessions. This structure worked well because of the blistery heat we were experiencing. It also gave us an opportunity to backup our photos, review and make any corrections before going out again. Colby always made himself available for questions. The lodging was very good and so was the food. Had a great variety including some traditional Brazilian cuisine. I fell in love with their cheese balls! They are a MUST! The one thing I would change for myself is learning more basic Portuguese. Thanks to our guide Fernando and Al, a fellow participant, I managed.
I highly recommend this workshop and any other one Colby offers. Each will provide you with an unforgettable experience. Colby is always upbeat and a blast to be around. Always keeps you laughing. He is an excellent photographer and his “teaching” style is wonderful. Can’t go wrong joining any of his adventures. Oh,don’t forget the bug spray!!!

I recently went to India to do a Photographic Workshop, mostly photographing wild tigers. This was my second workshop with Colby, so I had high expectations, but these expectations were exceeded and some! This was for just over 2 weeks to experience India as a whole. We started in Delhi and went to Jaipur, the pink city, Agra, the Taj Mahal, and Agra Fort. We had some tours in these cities set up by Colby,(…)
and everything went smoothly. It gave us an excellent feel and experience of India as a country, especially the people, which was a great bonus. Of course, the Taj Mahal was magnificent and needs to be seen if you are going to India. In addition, we got to go to Bharatpur Bird Sanctaury, which was beautiful and set by Colby and his team with a wonderful local guide. We enjoyed it so much that we went there twice, once on the way to Agra and once on the way back to Delhi after seeing the Taj.The Tiger experience was terrific in two different Tiger Reserves, specifically Dudhwa and Ranthambore, which have different experiences. In 14 game drives, I had 16 Tiger sightings with multiple tigers in each sighting, which created wonderful photo opportunities. We saw Tigers close up, walking towards us, in family groups, drinking, swimming, splashing, and chasing antelope in the water. It was just way better than I expected.
We had a wonderful group of seven photographers with two non-photographers (spouses), so lots of room in three safari gypsys. Colby is a truly special tour leader! He finds time to spend with all of us and handles people and issues so well. I can’t wait for my next trip with Colby and highly recommend him for any Photographic worships – he is the best!!

Attending a couple of Colby Brown’s recent workshops has been one of the best investments of time and money that I have made in photography. When shooting with Colby I have always learned many new things. These lessons may apply to the act of taking pictures, or be related to processing and publishing… or even the business of photography. Either way, they are always valuable.
