Welcome to
Colby Brown Photography
I became a photographer back in 2006, rapidly rising in the ranks of the photo industry. Iย created my company, Colby Brown Photography, to offer my services to the public and corporations. I spent countless hours studying the latest photography techniques, exploring camera technology and photo editing. This learning curve opened my eyes to the world of photography education by exploring the world and using these techniques in the field.
I was leading photography workshops for National Geographic in South America, further spurring my love for both travel and photo education. Over the years, I have developed photography workshops that take you to wondrous locations around the globe while teaching the different disciplines of photography. Each workshop is carefully planned to offer the best scenic locations to create memorable adventure while allowing me to share my knowledge and experience.ย
Today, I am a professional photographer, photo educator and author living in Eastern Pennsylvania with my family. The meticulously researchedย photography workshops I created, specialize in landscape, travel and wildlife photography, I am fortunate to work all over the globe, across all 7 continents, documenting various cultures, environments and species in pursuit of capturing life on this planet.ย Following my heart and my passions, I dedicate a lot of my time to working with small NGOs, charities and initiative programs while on the road. If you have been looking for a way to give back, check out my NGO, The Giving Lens. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out andย contactย me. Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy!
Each year I run photography workshop adventures around the globe in some of the most incredible locations on the planet such as Patagonia, Iceland, Norway, Cuba, Africa and much moreโฆ
Throughout my career I have created a number of tutorials, video courses & e-books that cover everything from social media and business to post-processing (Adobe, Capture One & On1 Photo RAW). You can find these in the Photography Education section of this website.

Italy on its own is amazing, but Colby somehow makes it even better. Also, the beautiful hikes help to balance out the delicious carbs, so itโs a win-win.
If youโve ever considered taking a workshop with Colby, just do it already. He is personable, knowledgeable, helpful, and his workshops are next-level experiences. And heโs there for advice and helps long after you fly home. Iโve been on several(โฆ)
workshops with Colby and keep coming back for more. There are many outfits offering photographic trips to Costa Rica. I am quite sure many of them are excellent. I honestly believe that word of mouth is the best way to sift through the options. Colby was highly recommended by a good friend who is an excellent photographer. I went with my wife, and we both have difficulty walking, and I am partially disabled. The driver of the bus (Wilson) and Kenneth(โฆ)
(Colbyโs assistant) helped us every step of the way with great compassion. This made our experience even more memorable. On a trip like this, local knowledge is essential, which was available in abundance. Colby is a special person. His photographic knowledge is impeccable, and all of us on the trip learned a great deal. He is a wonderful individual, and this was felt by everyone on the trip. Accommodation and meals more than adequate at all venues. Every effort was made to accommodate our needs, and I would recommend Colby unconditionally!โฆto learn and grow.
I had no expectations as I prepared for Colbyโs workshop in Myanmar. What I wanted the most from this trip was the experience of exploring an ancient culture and the opportunity for an amazing adventure, but what I walked away with was so much more.
One of the things I really appreciated the most about working with Colby is the way he pushes you beyond your boundaries in photography.(โฆ)
Until this workshop, I spent most of my time photographing in aperture priority mode with auto-focus. This workshop encouraged me to explore and embrace my cameraโs manual mode. Now, Iโm not new to manual modeโI spend every Milky Way season in manual mode and manual focusโbut shooting the night sky in manual isnโt really a challenge. However, when youโre in conditions with fast-changing and dynamic lighting, you really need to think about how each setting affects your image. Colbyโs deep technical knowledge and his ability to teach will leave a lasting impression on you as a studentโฆ no question is too simple nor too complex.Thank you Colby (and Erin and Koye!) for an amazing but exhausting trip in Myanmar. This was an experience I will never forget and lโm looking forward to my next adventure with Colby.
