Iceland Summer Adventure 2018
Come join me for an adventure in Iceland during the summer solstice. Unlike other tours in Iceland that confine you to specific locations based on your accommodation, this 8 day educational photography tour is focused on making sure you have the best opportunities to capture epic light each night. We have no set itinerary as we will base each days shooting location based on the latest weather reports, road conditions and my experience photographing in Iceland (this will be my 24th trip to Iceland). Each night we will set up camp in an incredibly beautiful and serene location, allowing us to rest before heading out to repeat the process all over again.
June 22nd – 30th, 2018
Iceland is located in one of the northern most locations on this planet. In June/July, you will witness what is called as the “Midnight Sun”. This is where sunrise and sunset converge and you have hours of amazing light to shoot every night. However in order to capture this amazing light, you have to be awake, so we will be reversing our sleep cycles, shooting at night and sleeping during the day in order to maximize our time in Iceland.
In order to avoid the restrictions placed on a trip because the location of our hotel each night, we will be camping instead, occasionally near some of the most gorgeous and impressive locations you have ever seen. This trip is certainly tailored slightly for the more adventurous, but instead of leaving Iceland unhappy with your images because of poor weather, we will have the freedom to chase the light and weather, allowing me to put you in front of the right locations with the right kind of epic light you are looking for.

Great First Trip To Zion
I was fortunate to take a quick, three day, Sony sponsored photo trip with Colby as our leader. Colby, as you may know is a Sony Artisan of Imagery. I hadn’t met or been familiar with his work or teaching prior to this event but was looking forward to meeting him and learning new photo techniques. I also hoped for great Zion locations at sunrise and sunset. I was not disappointed! Colby was an impressive instructor. His teaching style with adults is perfect in that he makes himself available for any and all questions but is not intrusive nor pedantic. …
one of the best investments
Attending a couple of Colby Brown’s recent workshops has been one of the best investments of time and money that I have made in photography. When shooting with Colby I have always learned many new things. These lessons may apply to the act of taking pictures, or be related to processing and publishing… or even the business of photography. Either way, they are always valuable.
a fantastic experience
I had a fantastic experience at Colby’s Zion Workshop. I found his advice that he shared throughout the workshop to be very insightful and helpful. Most photographers want to capture those iconic shots at our national parks such as Zion’s Watchman so I especially appreciated his emphasis on approaching things from different perspective that not only allowed us to avoid a few crowds but also gave us the opportunity to capture some of those iconic shots from a fresh vantage point. In between shooting we had some really great conversations and post processing advice that really completed the experience. I …
